Admission to Two Year Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging - Indian Institute of Packaging

Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is an autonomous body in the field of packaging and working under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The Institute was established on 14th May, 1966 with its headquarter and principal laboratories in Mumbai. The Institute set up its first branch office at Chennai in 1971, followed by branches at Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad in 1976, 1986 and 2006, respectively. 

Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging (PGDP)
The two-year programme leads to a Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging.
The course is conducted at Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
The course has 4-semesters.
3 Semesters are at the Campus of the Institute, while during the 4th semester, students work on projects in different industries in the country.
After successfully passing the required examinations held in every semester and industrial projects, the students are awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging.
The qualification equips them to pursue a career in packaging in different types of industries in India and overseas.
Allocation of Seats at IIP: The seats for every academic year are as follows:

  • Mumbai - 280 Seats
  • Delhi - 100 Seats
  • Kolkata - 80 Seats
  • Hyderabad - 40 Seats

Seat reservations are as per the Government norms as below:

  • OBC - 27%
  • SC - 15%
  • ST - 7.5%

Eligibility
Fresh Graduate / Graduate in Science / Engineering / Technology who have completed their education in the following area of specialization from recognized university or AICTE approved institution with minimum second class and maximum age of 30 years as on 31/05/2017 with age relaxation of 03 years for OBC and 05 years for SC/ST are eligible to apply.
B. Sc. - Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Material Science, Bio-Technology, Zoology, Botany, Agricultural Sciences, Horticultural Sciences, Veterinary sciences, Dairy science, Food Science & Applied Nutrition, Electronics, Environment Science, Polymer chemistry / science, Fishery Science, Nano Science.
B. Pharm. Courses or 3 year B. Sc. in Pharmaceutical sciences.
B .Tech. / B.E. Courses – Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Bio Chemical / Bio Technology, Food Technology, Pulp & Paper Technology, Plastics Technology, Polymer Technology, Oils & surfactants Technology, Computer Tech / IT, Agricultural engineering, Dairy Technology /engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology, Green Technology, Nano Technology or any other Engineering / Technology.
Those with equivalent overseas qualification would also be eligible for admission. The candidate needs to have consistently high academic performance and sound general knowledge. Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying examinations can also apply, however, they must submit their results/ provisional results (as given by University) latest on the day of the personal interview and selection, as without their degree result, student are not eligible to appearing for personal interview and will be eliminated from the admission process.

Admission
The prospective candidates are required to appear for the PDGP Common Entrance Test (PGDPCET) conducted by IIP which will be held on 15th June, 2017 and Personal Interview in the third week of July 2017 based on their performance in PGDPCET-2017.


PGDPCET-2017 
(Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging Common Entrance Test – 2017) 33rd Batch (2017-19)
A candidate seeking admission to the PGDP Course will be required to appear in the written Entrance Examination which will comprise of multiple choice questions. The syllabus for the written test is at the graduate level and the subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Engineering

Personal Interview
Candidates, who clear the written examination as above, will be called for Personal Interview which will be held at the Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad centers of the Institute. The Institute has the discretion to fix minimum qualifying marks for Personal Interview which will make a candidate eligible for further consideration for admission.

The national selection of candidates for admission to the course will be done in the order of their merit which will be based on the aggregate of marks calculated in each case according to the following weightage:
Marks obtained in 10th Class/Matriculation : 10%
Marks obtained in 12th Class/Sr. Secondary : 10%
Marks obtained in Graduation level : 30%
Marks obtained in the Entrance Examination : 30%
Marks obtained in Personal Interview : 20%
